World-class Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI), based in Basel – Switzerland, has decided to implement Qmarkets’ idea management platform to streamline and enhance internal work processes.
Basel, July 13th, 2018 – As the result of an internal survey where an ideation platform was requested, FMI chose to implement Qmarkets’ Idea Management platform for implementation to their staff of over 350 people, which includes a high number of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers from around the world. The decision was made due to the flexibility of the Qmarkets platform, and its experience with similar life-science companies, specifically in Switzerland.
FMI – which is affiliated with both the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR), and the University of Basel – conducts a broad array of research projects to better understand the molecular mechanisms of health and disease. In addition to serving as a training institute for students and scientists, FMI is comprised of senior academics, HR personnel, patents and licensing staff, communication executives, and other professionals.
“Idea generation and problem solving methodologies have always played pivotal roles in our ongoing research activities.” said Thibaut Siegmann, Head Knowledge Management at FMI. “The Qmarkets platform has made it easy for us to organize and optimize our innovation workflows on a single, user-friendly platform. In addition to helping us develop strategies that bring together the scientific, technical, and administrative sides of our mission, it’s ideal for helping us discover ways to optimize day-to-day working processes across departments.”
As this is the first time the FMI has experimented with an idea and innovation management platform, they are utilizing Qmarkets’ best-practice features and recommended workflow structure, sending selected ideas to an internal review committee for evaluation.
“We’re extremely proud to see a pioneering biomedical institute like FMI make use of our product for their campaigns” said Qmarkets’ Co-founder, Michael Stilger. “While discussing applications of the platform with the FMI team, we were thrilled by the passion the organization has for innovation.”
