Markets Participants - Who Is Allowed To Join?

Our platform offers you very high control of your audience, and you have a few options you can use.

Our first level is to set up a market in our Public Marketplace. As its name reflects, it is open for anyone to see, participate and even create a market.
Every Qmarkets user automatically gets 5,000 points to trade on markets in the public marketplace.
You can use this freely for testing purposes or for interacting with our community.

If you want better control of who joins and who plays, you can set up your very own marketplace - a Qmarkets Group.
As the group owner, you create the markets, and you decide who can join, and who can just view the market results.

You have 4 levels of privacy you can set for your group:
  • Public / Open - Anyone can join, see & participate - just like the public marketplace. However - only you can create new markets.
  • Moderated - Anyone can ask to join (subscribe) to your group, but you can approve or disapprove. Markets & Results of this group are still public, but in order to participate (trade), you have to approve.
  • Invite Only - Participation in this group requires an invitation from you (the group owner) - strangers can not ask to subscribe - you have to invite them. But like the moderated - markets & their results in this group are public.
  • Private / Closed - This group is only open to people that you invite. Others will not even be able to see this group or any of its market and content, unless you explicitly invite them (via email).

Companies interested in using Qmarkets will ultimately use the "Closed Groups", as they provide the highest level of protection & privacy.

What Else Can I Do As a Group Owner?

Qmarkets Groups allow you first of all better control over your content & market participant, and enable you to extend the interaction with your users.
So - why open a group?
here are a few reasons why:
  • Easy Access - Group all your markets around a certain subject into a group, allowing users to find them easily.
  • Additional Content - Your group can contain your very own blog, your own FAQ & menu, and a link to your main site.
  • Your Own Mini-Site - Qmarkets provides you with your own subdomain (i.e., american_idol.qmarkets.net), and a choice of from a few site templates that fit your need.
  • It's Free & Easy To Setup - At Qmarkets, setting up your own group takes 1 minutes and costs nothing. You don't have to call us, or wait for an approval - just fill in a few simple details, and you are ready to go.

What Can People Do With All The Points They Earn?

That's a good question.
There are such sites that allow trading for real money (like InTrade or BetFair), which gives a good answer to this - but this actually makes these sites gambling sites (at least legally).

It is your decision as the group owner what you let users do with points they make, and it really depends on what you are using the markets for. For instance, they could:
  • Participate In Other Markets
  • Earn Prizes for every x point they earn
  • Appear in the "Top Users" List, and gain respect and acknowledgement
  • Increase their "status" as experts
